Cost of Pool Installation in Tampa

How to Lower the Cost of Pool Installation in Tampa

A pool can be the perfect addition to your Tampa home, offering endless hours of relaxation and enjoyment. However, the thought of the cost of pool installation in Tampa might seem daunting. Fear not! With some smart strategies and careful planning, you can significantly reduce the financial burden of bringing your pool dreams to life. In this blog, we will discuss how you can lower the cost of your pool installation in Tampa. Plan and Set a Realistic Budget: First of all, you need to determine how much you are willing to spend and stick to it. Remember to account for additional expenses such as landscaping, fencing, and maintenance costs. Planning and having a clear budget in mind will prevent overspending and ensure a smoother installation process. You can research the average pool installation cost in Tampa to get an idea. Choose the Right Pool Type: When it comes to the cost of pool installation in Tampa, the type of pool you choose can have a significant impact on your overall expenses. While inground pools are popular, they tend to be more expensive due to excavation and construction costs. Consider opting for an above-ground pool, which is generally more affordable and requires less extensive installation. Alternatively, explore options like fiberglass pools, which offer faster installation times and require fewer ongoing maintenance expenses compared to traditional concrete pools. Select a Reasonable Pool Size: While it may be tempting to go all out and choose the largest pool size available, remember that bigger doesn’t always mean better, especially when it comes to the cost of pool installation in Tampa. Larger pools require more materials, labor, and maintenance, driving up the overall expenses. Assess your space requirements and consider how you will primarily use the pool. Opting for a smaller or medium-sized pool can significantly reduce installation costs without compromising on enjoyment. DIY vs. Hiring Professionals: One of the most effective ways to reduce the cost of pool installation in Tampa is by taking on some of the tasks yourself. While certain aspects of pool installation, such as excavation and plumbing, require professional expertise, there are plenty of DIY-friendly tasks you can tackle to save money. These may include tasks like landscaping, backfilling, or even installing some pool equipment. However, be realistic about your skills and capabilities, and always consult with professionals when in doubt to avoid costly mistakes. Choose Local Pool Builders in Tampa: Opting for local experts for your Tampa pool services can lead to considerable savings in multiple ways. Professionals in your vicinity are often more familiar with the distinct needs of Tampa pools, including understanding specific water conditions and weather patterns. This local insight can enhance the efficiency of their service, ultimately contributing to lower maintenance costs. Best thing? They are likely to provide their services at more competitive rates than larger, national companies. The proximity of these local experts can also translate into quicker response times, eliminating any potential delays that could exacerbate issues and add to repair costs. In short, selecting a local professional for your pool services presents a cost-effective solution, merging excellent service with budget-friendly options. Explore Financing Options: If upfront payment for the entire cost of pool installation in Tampa is not feasible, don’t worry. Many financing options are available to help spread out the expenses over time. Research different financing plans offered by pool contractors or explore options such as home equity loans or personal loans. However, be sure to carefully review the terms and interest rates to ensure you choose the most cost-effective option for your financial situation. Shop Around for the Best Deals: Don’t settle for the first pool contractor you come across. Take the time to shop around and gather multiple quotes from different providers. Compare prices, services offered, and customer reviews to find the best value for your money. Keep in mind that the cheapest option is not always the best choice; prioritize quality and reliability to avoid potential headaches down the road. Additionally, inquire about any ongoing promotions or discounts that may help lower the cost of pool installation in Tampa. Optimize Energy Efficiency: Beyond the initial installation cost, owning a pool also comes with ongoing operational expenses, such as energy bills for heating and filtration. By prioritizing energy efficiency during the installation process, you can save money in the long run. Choose energy-efficient pool equipment, such as variable-speed pumps and LED lighting, which consume less electricity and require fewer maintenance efforts. Additionally, consider investing in a pool cover to minimize heat loss and reduce the need for heating during cooler months. Maintain Regular Maintenance: Prevention is key when it comes to minimizing the cost of pool installation in Tampa. Establish a regular maintenance routine to keep your pool in optimal condition and avoid costly repairs down the line. Tasks such as cleaning the pool, balancing chemical levels, and inspecting equipment should be performed consistently to prevent issues from escalating. By staying proactive and addressing minor issues promptly, you can extend the lifespan of your pool and avoid costly repairs or replacements. The Bottom Line: While the cost of pool installation in Tampa may initially seem daunting, there are plenty of strategies you can employ to make it more manageable. By planning, choosing the right pool type and size, exploring financing options, and prioritizing energy efficiency and maintenance, you can significantly reduce expenses while still enjoying the luxury of your backyard oasis. With careful consideration and smart decision-making, your dream pool can become a reality without breaking the bank. Now is the time to start making these cost-effective changes and experience the financial benefits first hand.

New Construction Pool in Tampa

Creating Your Backyard Oasis: Things to Consider During New Pool Construction in Tampa

Are you dreaming of a backyard oasis in the sunny city of Tampa? Adding a pool to your home is the perfect way to enhance your outdoor living space and create a relaxing retreat in your backyard. However, before diving into new pool construction in Tampa, there are some important things to consider. From design and layout to permits and maintenance, proper planning can make all the difference in creating the perfect pool for your lifestyle. In this blog post, we will discuss the key factors to keep in mind during new pool construction in Tampa. Understand the Local Regulations and Permit Requirements Taking the plunge into pool construction begins with knowing your local rules and regulations. So, before the first shovel hits the ground, take a deep dive into the necessary permits and guidelines you must adhere to. This isn’t just about avoiding fines or legal complications; it’s about ensuring your pool is safe and compliant with local codes Tampa, like many other cities, has its unique stipulations when it comes to building a pool. Here are some of the pool construction guidelines in Tampa… For more information, please visit the official site of the Tampa government. Choose the Right Pool Design for Your Space Delving into the realm of pool design can be a thrilling adventure. There are endless possibilities, from a traditional rectangular pool to a sleek, contemporary infinity pool or even a whimsical freeform pool that mirrors your vibrant landscape. But the design you select isn’t just about personal style or aesthetics – it’s also about marrying your design dreams with the practical limitations of your backyard. When pondering over the perfect pool design, consider the size and layout of your space. A pool should enhance your backyard, not overpower it. So, if your yard is long and narrow, a lap pool might work best. If you have a spacious backyard, a luxurious lagoon-style pool might be your pick. Work in tandem with a professional pool designer who can turn your vision into a reality. They can provide valuable input, from functional design aspects to the best materials for your pool’s interior. They also can suggest ways to integrate your pool seamlessly with the existing landscape or any planned backyard features, like a patio or outdoor kitchen. Consider the Sun and Wind Exposure The Tampa sun is a blessing, bringing warmth and radiance to your backyard. However, it plays a critical role in your pool placement and design. A pool bathed in sunlight is not only inviting but also keeps the water at a pleasant, warm temperature. So, take a good look at your yard and determine where the sun shines brightest – that’s your pool’s sweet spot! On the flip side, wind can be a bit of a party crasher. Too much wind exposure can accelerate water evaporation, leading to frequent water top-ups and temperature fluctuations. It can also blow debris into your pool, making maintenance a constant chore. To keep the wind at bay, assess your yard for areas that are shielded from the wind. Consider landscaping features like trees or shrubs, or built structures like a wall or fence, which could serve as natural wind barriers. Just be careful not to create too much shade that might block the sun’s rays! Plan for Pool Maintenance Owning a pool is not just about the fun-filled afternoons of splashing around. There’s also the less glamorous, yet vital, aspect of regular pool maintenance. This could range from skimming off leaves and debris, checking the water’s chemical balance, to inspecting the pool equipment. And not to forget, the occasional repairs that might crop up. It’s important to think ahead about these maintenance tasks while you’re still in the planning stages of your pool. Sketch out a maintenance plan – will you be diving into these tasks yourself or will you need to allocate a budget for a professional pool service? Remember, regular upkeep not only keeps your pool sparkling clean but also prolongs its lifespan. Think About Safety Features As you envision your dream pool, the glittering water, sleek design, and luxury amenities may take center stage. But let’s not forget another critical aspect: safety. Fencing is a common yet crucial safety measure. Having a sturdy, lockable fence around your pool helps prevent unsupervised access, particularly for children or pets. Choose a design that’s not only functional but complements your pool’s aesthetics. Next, consider adding pool alarms. These alert you when there is unexpected motion in your pool, adding an extra layer of security. You could also explore safety covers that are not only protective but also help keep your pool clean. Additionally, a non-slip surface around your pool can be a game-changer. It reduces the risk of slips and falls, making poolside fun and safer for everyone, especially during wet and rowdy pool parties. If you have little ones who love to swim, consider installing safety barriers or pool nets. These offer a robust safety net (literally!) without obstructing the view of your beautiful pool. Choose a Reliable Pool Construction Company Your choice of a pool construction company can significantly shape your journey from dreaming about a backyard pool to diving into one. This is not a decision to make lightly, so do your homework. Spend time researching local pool construction companies in Tampa. An engaging company website is a good start, but dig a little deeper. What do customer reviews say about their work and professionalism? Do they have a portfolio showcasing their pool projects? A reputable company isn’t just about quality construction; it’s about comprehensive service. They should be equipped to guide you through the complicated maze of permits, making your path to pool ownership smoother. They should have expert designers who can translate your vision into a tangible design that’s practical and aesthetically pleasing. The right company will work with you, respecting your vision, budget, and timeline. They should be open to your ideas while offering their professional insight and suggestions. After

Swimming Pool Design Trends for 2024

Swimming pools are like fashion—they come, they rule and they go. Since becoming an essential backyard feature, pools have come a long way. Back in the 1950s or ’60s when residential pools started to become common across the USA, they were different than today’s pools in terms of design and build. They were generally made with fiberglass, vinyl, or gunite and featured rectangular or kidney-shaped designs. Then there were plastic-lined pools, letting middle-class Americans enjoy pool ownership. The 1970s saw the rise of innovative pool features such as built-in spas and waterfalls. In the 1980s, there was a trend toward more natural-looking pools, but the 1990s saw the emergence of automatic cleaners and advanced control systems for pools. Today’s swimming pools showcase cutting-edge, energy-efficient technologies alongside sleek and minimalist designs. So it is safe to say that swimming pool designs continue to evolve, reflecting changing tastes, technological advancements, and a growing awareness of environmental sustainability. What’s next? Here we will walk through some exciting pool design trends of 2024, so scroll below to learn all the latest trends. Colored Waters: One of the more appealing features to look for in 2024 is giving your water different shades at different times of the day. It can be done by installing liners or tiles. For example, you can choose a light grey pool liner to make your pool water look bold and blue. A pale blue liner or interior tile can be installed for more translucent water while a dark blue liner will give a deeper blue shade to the pool water. Green, tan, or brown colored liners add green tones to the water. Apart from liners, you can install colored lighting with long-lasting LED bulbs. If you are looking for a cheap and simple way to change water color temporarily, go for water dyes. Solar Power: The past few years have seen sustainability taking center stage across every aspect of our lives. And swimming pools are no exception. As a result, we get to see solar-powered pool heaters, energy-efficient lighting, and eco-friendly filtration systems. Biophilic Design: Biophilic design is an attractive blend of nature and architecture. Unleashing the serenity, this pool design blurs the boundary between man-made structures and the natural world. In other words, this design aims to connect you to nature. It features lighting, landscape features, ventilation, and other features.  For example, they include direct natural components like water, sunlight, and plants as well as indirect things mimicking natural conditions like high ceilings looking like forest canopies. Adding such elements to your swimming pool design ensures a welcoming and relaxing atmosphere that is not only attractive but also leads to well-being. You may experience relaxation, reduced stress levels, and a sense of connection with your surroundings. Multi Functionality: Pool will be no more a mere static body of water in upcoming years. They can be transformed according to your requirements, changing from relaxing oases to dynamic workout hubs. Multi-functional spaces ensure that your pool experience is customized to what you are looking to do with your pools. For example, you can install water features like bubblers or waterfalls in recreational mode and switch to intense swim currents for “workout mode” to get resistance for swimming laps or static swimming. Smart Pools: Swimming pool automation relies on technology to control your pool’s equipment and accessories from a single control tool or even from your smartphone. Sounds exciting, right? Modern swimming pool automation systems offer comprehensive control over various equipment, ranging from essential components like pumps, filters, and heaters to enjoyable additions such as lighting and sound systems. Some systems even include automation devices for pool chemicals, ensuring a balanced water composition without manual intervention. These advanced systems go beyond basic control; they enable users to program specific events. For instance, you can create a “party” program that activates a vibrant light display, music, and water features with a single button press. An “away” mode ensures smooth operation during vacations, while temperature-based programs adjust your pool’s temperature according to seasonal changes. Infinity Edge: Infinity pool design has been a key trend for years. It looks to stay for upcoming years. Thanks to their versatility and sleek design. They create an illusion of water meeting the horizon point, thereby creating an outstanding visual impact that improves the overall appearance of your backyard. Conclusion: In 2024, we can expect swimming pool designs to be more advanced, appealing, and sustainable than before. The good thing is making your backyard oasis trendy and sophisticated with most of the trends featured here now accessible and affordable. To Enclose Your Pool Or Not

To enclosure your pool or not is a common question we often hear at Hive Outdoor Living The short answer is, “It depends.” On what does it depend? Several points, actually. An enclosure can actually assist you in many ways taking care of your pool. First and foremost, perhaps, is that an enclosure will dramatically reduce the amount of debris from entering your pool water, especially leaves. And, while many people have an automatic pool cleaner installed, when a lot of leaves and other types of debris enter your water it can take a while before your water is once again crystal clear. An enclosure will help extend the amount of time to enjoy your pool. This ties into helping keep it clean, simply because you are spending less time getting leaves out of your pool so you can actually enjoy swimming. As well, screened enclosures assist in filtering some of the UV rays from the sun. This can result in being able to enjoy your pool for longer lengths of time with a little less worry about sunburns. Of course, living in Florida means there are times of hurricanes and strong winds. Pool enclosures have been designed to generally handle winds up to 120-130 miles per hour, so chances are they will be able to withstand most anything nature throws our way. One of the biggest benefits, however, has to do with being far more comfortable around your pool because their are fewer bugs and insects hoovering around you and your family. While the pests are still able to enter your screened-in area, that generally only occurs when a door to the outside of the pool perimeter is open while they are nearby and they manage to sneak into the enclosed area. Otherwise, your screen is able to protect you from insects and bugs to a very large degree and this definitely increases the amount of fun time for you and your family. Depending upon your design, your screened-in pool becomes an actual extension to your home and living space when connected to your patio roof. You may be able to walk out of your slider and are instantly immersed in your backyard paradise. To be fair, there are a couple of other, possibly less desirable, factors to consider. Screened enclosures are not necessarily maintenance free. Over time, an enclosure may develop mold or mildew which would need to be pressure washed. While the amount of time this would take is far less than cleaning leaves every day, it is something to take into account. The other, which does not happen that often, is when a screen gets torn or damaged. An example may be if a heavy branch were to break free from a large tree and fell into the screen. Not an easy fix when over the pool, but not an impossible task, either. At Hive Outdoor Living we will help you Create Your Own Paradise, with or without a screened enclosure. The choice is entirely up to you. And, if you decide to install an enclosure, there are different styles from which to choose.

Fire Pits Take Away The Chill

Here in the Greater Tampa Bay Area, swimming can be a year-round activity. Yes, even when the days or evenings can be a little brisk. One way to combat that cool temperature or breeze is with a fire pit or fire bowl. A fire pit, or even a fire bowl, is a great way to stay warm when you wish to enjoy the day or evening but the temp is just slightly below your liking. It also offers a dual purpose as possibly becoming the center for your outdoor entertainment area. One of the wonderful advantages to a fire pit in your backyard is that they take up a relatively small amount of space for the benefit that they provide. And the options of materials for your pit ensure that it will complement your decor and style; brick, stone, pavers, concrete, steel, as well as retaining wall blocks. Whether you have a pool already or not, a fire pit can be installed just about anywhere. The most popular tend to be gas powered pits, though you could opt for wood, if you so desire. As well, your pit can be either above ground or flush, being built below ground. Gas burning fire pits are typically easier to maintain (i.e., no ashes or debris to clean). As well, they don’t spark or produce embers or smoke. Wood-burning pits do provide the often well-remembered campfire aroma and can be changed according to the wood that is burned. One option to consider is if anyone would like to sit on the edge of the pit for a quicker warm-up. If that is the case, your fire pit should be between 18 and 22 inches high with enough area for someone to comfortably sit. A ground level fire pit with a deck of some type around it offers ground seating, reminiscent of sitting on a beach with an open fire blazing. We will work with your ideas for where and which type of fire pit to install, from the more simple to the elaborate, including its shape, such as square, circle, rectangle or even something custom. There are, of course, planning department regulations we will need to take into account, but that should not deter or stop you from having a fire pit or bowl to enhance your lifestyle. At Hive Outdoor Living we provide virtually everything in order to Create Your Backyard Paradise, including custom pools, spas, decks, screen enclosures, landscaping, outdoor kitchens, fire pits and fire bowls, gazebos and more.

Pools For Smaller Backyards

We have many times been asked how big a backyard must be in order to install an in-ground pool. At Hive Outdoor Living, the #1 Tampa Custom Pool Builder, we do not believe that any yard is too small to accommodate a swimming pool, or possibly an elaborate spa. The only obstacles we may encounter with a very small backyard would be any setbacks or easements. Setbacks: these regulations mandate the distance required from a proposed pool and how close to your home it can be, for example 3, 6 or 8 feet away, as well as how far away it must be from your property line. Easements: these are the invisible lines created by underground or overhead utilities where you are not able to construct anything, much less a pool. If these restrictions do not hamper what we envision, then you can have your pool and swim in it, too. A primary aspect to the smaller backyard is how the size (and shape) of the pool may possibly be limited. However, as long as there are no restrictions that deny constructing a pool, the investment in family (and friend) enjoyment and health benefits make it a very worthwhile endeavor. And that is the wonderful thing about concrete, in-ground pools: sizes and shapes have virtually no limitation. Our experienced, professional designers will work with you to first decide if a pool can be constructed due to possible restrictions and then the size and shape and any amenities you may wish to consider, such as lighting, jets, laminars, waterfalls, etc. One thing to keep in mind is that, even if your pool is smaller than average, you do not have to lose anything in terms of exercise. Swim jets are the ideal solution for people who wish to have a bit of a workout in their pool, but don’t have the available length for long laps around the pool. The swim jets supply a continual current of water from one wall of your pool, allowing you to swim against the constant flow of water, providing a workout. An analogy might be walking on a treadmill. Perhaps the biggest benefit is that a pool of any size allows you to relax and unwind after work and on weekends. That, in itself, becomes almost priceless. The other option mentioned was a larger spa or a swim spa, which is a large spa with the traditional therapeutic jets but also has swim jets installed. Hive Outdoor Living has constructed many smaller pools and larger spas for those with limited space. Feel free to contact us as we would be happy to discuss possible options with you. And, don’t forget, we utilize 3D tech to provide you, in advance, with a life-like example of how your backyard will look once the job is completed.

There are items you may select that will provide you a dual purpose, such as filling planters with fragrant Lavender, Marigold, Scented Geranium and Peppermint to assist in repelling mosquitos. Trees and gazebos add dimension to your yard as well as some very welcome shade during the brightest part of the day. Swimming Pool Equipment

A Clean Pool is Healthy and InvitingPool Equipment Makes All the Difference At Hive Outdoor Living, #1 Tampa Pool Builder, we take pride in each and every pool and spa that we install for our customers. One of the reasons we are the best at what we do is that we do not cut corners, especially when it comes to your pool equipment. In order to have a sparkling clean pool and/or spa, it is necessary to install the absolute best pump, filter and automation equipment, with the result that your pool/spa stays clean and sanitized, day in and day out. The pump is the heart of the system as its function is to circulate the water so it can be cleared of debris. We have been using the industry leader’s (Pentair) swimming pool and spa pumps for years. Aside from performing the job of water circulation flawlessly, their pumps earned the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency’s ENERGY STAR® designation due to being between 30%-72% more energy-efficient than their competitors in the industry. The purpose of the pool filter is to keep your pool water clear and clean. There are many types of filters on the market and the Pentair cartridge filter does an amazing job of removing airborne dirt and leaves, organic matter, bacteria and algae. The Clean & Clear RP Cartridge filter has a surface consistency to block and trap particles as small as 20 microns. On top of that, it is relatively easy and quick to remove and rinse clean. Despite the year-round warmer temperatures in Florida, most people opt for a heater to ensure they can enjoy their pool in total comfort. Of course, if you are getting a spa, this piece of equipment is a must. Pentair MasterTemp heaters are efficient, convenient and extremely reliable. With a user-friendly LCD display, these pool heaters are easy to operate as a home heating system and the MasterTemp Heater is Eco-friendly and is certified for low NOx emissions, outperforming pool industry standards One of the keys to years of enjoyment is your pool’s water chemistry. There are pH and sanitizer levels at which your water must be maintained to prevent the growth of algae, as well as keeping water safe for your eyes. The liquid around the eyes is generally between 7.0 and 7.3, which is pH neutral. Any significant fluctuation from those readings will cause your eyes to sting, similar to when water dripping from your hair reaches your open eye, as the pH of hair and scalp oil is generally acidic, between 4.5 and 5.5, in order to prevent fungi and bacteria from growing. The Pentair IntelliChem® Water Chemistry Controller works to keep the pH and chlorine levels of your pool in balance. Many people enjoy swimming at night and, to ensure safety, the Pentax MicroBrite Color and White LED Lights provide exceptional brilliance, lighting uniformity and some amazing colors. To add some spice, there is the option of Pentair GloBrite lights. These high-performance LED lights utilize the most advanced technology with five brilliant fixed colors and offer seven dazzling pre-programmed light shows. Another very useful device is the Pentair IntelliLevel™ Water Leveling Monitor, utilizing multi-sensory technology to ensure that your pool water level stays at a safe level for operational efficiency. When water levels are too high there can be overflow and a waste of water. When the level is too low there is a danger that not enough water reaches the pool pump and filtration system, which can cause equipment damage. It is simple to set up and use and has built-in safeguards to notify you in case of any failure to operate properly. And, of course, having a device clean and vacuum your pool is an added plus. The fully-programmable Pentair Prowler 920 Robotic Pool Cleaner is top of the line and provides high-caliber cleaning, scrubbing and vacuuming, to the tile line. One last thing to mention is the installation of your equipment. When you select Hive Outdoor Living to build your pool, rest assured that your equipment not only functions properly, but that it flows perfectly. By that we mean that all pipes leading into and out of the equipment area follow a logical pattern for optimum efficiency and are clearly marked for ease of identification. The above cover the basics of an ideal swimming pool equipment and device set up. Of course, there are many additional options to enhance your outdoor living area, such as enclosures and screens, outdoor kitchens, fire pits, fountains, waterfalls, grottos, caves, jet sprays, etc. From your new pool design to your entire outdoor environment, Hive Outdoor Living can, and will, make your dreams come true.
